Prince Harry to return to UK, King Charles said to have prepared room at palace

JAKARTA - Prince Harry is expected to return to England in September to attend the WellChild Awards in London. King Charles is said to be returning to offer a room at Buckingham Palace, although it is not known whether Prince Harry will accept the offer.

The Mirror, quoted Wednesday, July 29, reported that the offer was called a "peace offering" after Prince Harry failed to stay at the palace during his visit to the UK in early July.

At the time, a spokesman for the Duke of Sussex said Prince Harry would live at Buckingham Palace. However, royal sources immediately denied it.

Prince Harry's request was reportedly rejected because he was late in accepting an offer that had previously been given.

Despite the chaos that greeted his visit, Prince Harry still met with King Charles and Queen Camilla at Highgrove. Meghan Markle and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, were also present at the meeting.

Prince Harry is now expected to return to London to attend the WellChild Awards. The Sun reports the palace will offer him a room again.

However, The Mirror said it was not known whether Harry would accept the offer. Prince Harry's office has been asked for a response.

It is not yet clear whether Meghan and their two children will be on the September trip. In recent years, Prince Harry has usually come to London alone to attend the awards.

Security concerns remain a stumbling block in any visit by Prince Harry to Britain.

Last month, he announced that his entire family would return home. The plan changed after the Ministry of the Interior stated that they would not receive taxpayer-funded security while in the UK.

Meghan and the children did not take part in Prince Harry's series of visits to London. They only joined when meeting with King Charles.

Last week, Meghan shared a photo of her family's trip to England with her 4.7 million followers on Instagram. Some of the photos were taken at Althorp, Northamptonshire, where the late Princess Diana is buried.

One of the photos shows Lilibet walking in the garden. Prince Harry and Prince Archie are seen in front carrying flowers.

Princess Diana is buried on an island in the middle of Oval Lake, Althorp. The location is closed to the general public, but can be visited by family members.

In Spare, Prince Harry recounts his visit to his mother's final resting place. He also took Meghan there for the first time on the 25th anniversary of Diana's death.

Prince Harry lost his automatic right to police protection after he and Meghan stepped down as active members of the royal family.

Since then, he has had to inform the government one month before coming to the UK. The authorities then assess the security risks before determining the form of protection provided.

Prince Harry repeatedly did not receive full protection during his visit. He also lost a lawsuit against the Home Office in May last year.

A new decision on his security is pending. British officials must also arrange protection for nine former prime ministers.

Prince Harry was previously told that the risk management board would reassess his security by the end of 2025. The panel is tasked with assessing the level of threat and protection needs of an individual.

The review by the independent body was originally scheduled for March, but has not taken place. The delay is partly due to staffing constraints for high-level security.

To cope with the high demand, officials temporarily halted the review process for about four months.
