IBM Records Increasing Productivity With Artificial Intelligence Equipment From Adobe

JAKARTA IBM, this week, reported that early testing of Adobe's generating artificial intelligence tools has resulted in increased productivity. IBM uses tools from Adobe that can produce images from text-based stimuli to help marketing campaigns.

This is an early trial of Adobe's strategy to create an artificial intelligence system trained with its own property data with legal guarantees against a lawsuit, a strategy Adobe hopes will attract the attention of big businesses.

Billy Seabrook, head of global design for IBM consulting units, said that 1,600 designers in his unit used tools from Adobe to help generate ideas quickly and create variations of the idea to be used in different parts of marketing campaigns. "Usually it takes two weeks for cycles from start to finish, now we only need two days," said Seabrook, quoted by VOI from Reuters.

Overall, IBM says it expects a 10-fold increase in designer productivity, which will allow them to spend more time thinking creatively and create storyboards than to produce minor design variations.

Seabrook said that in the short term, the biggest impact on the manufacturing of the design industry from the use of this new tool will make existing teams do more work. "Usually there are priority rules about what big bets you will pursue and which staff you will allocate to solve the problem. In theory, this opens up more space to focus on some other issues," he said.

The long-term impact on employment is not clear. Seabrook said IBM's recent survey data showed that most business leaders considered designers more important than ever.

"They should be tastemakers and quality examiners of the generative AI results, as well as a little empathy in the room that helps train, tune and curate the AI," said Seabrook. "But in another part of the survey data, " everyone agrees there will be a little work," said Seabrook. "We're waiting to see what happens."
