The Deputy Minister Of Communication And Information Calls The Spread Of Misinformation Ahead Of The 2024 Far-Disadvantaged Election

Deputy Minister of Communication and Information, Nezar Patria, said that the number of misinformation and disinformation in the two weeks leading up to the 2024 General Election was much reduced compared to 2019.

"We can feel this from social media and then information circulating via messenger, for example, if in the past it was very aggressive in groups, for example on WhatsApp, there were fewer misinformation and disinformation that spread," Nezar said in a live YouTube FMB19ID_IKP entitled Dewasa Berdemocracy in the 2024 Election.

In addition, the Deputy Minister of Communication and Information also mentioned several differences in the situation ahead of this year's election with the previous elections, where currently there are no more exploitation of identity politics or exploring issues that can divide.

"We are also watching that there is a decline in the use of identity politics in the election, this time and we also quite appreciate it, I think our society is also getting older, getting older. Maybe with the experience of the previous presidential election twice," he explained.

In addition, with the presence of increasingly sophisticated artificial intelligence (AI) technology every day, Nezar admitted that fake content using AI is more difficult to distinguish.

However, to anticipate the spread of hoaxes on social media, Nezar said that Kominfo is actively working with stakeholders of various platforms, both television, online, as well as radio, as well as social media platforms.
