JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kemenkominfo) has responded to the determination of BAKTI CEO Anang Achmad Latif (AAL) as a corruption suspect by the Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) in the provision of 4G Base Transceiver Station (BTS) infrastructure in 2020 to 2022.

"The Ministry of Communication and Informatics respects and is cooperative with the ongoing legal process in the alleged corruption case at the BLU BAKTI," said the Director General of Information and Public Communication (Dirjen IKP) of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, Usman Kansong to VOI, Thursday, January 5.

Usman stated that the BLU BAKTI would continue to operate as it should, even though Anang had been named a suspect in corruption in the provision of 4G BTS.

"BLU BAKTI will continue to carry out its main tasks and functions (tupoksi) of telecommunications infrastructure development to realize the agenda of accelerating digital transformation while still adhering to the ongoing legal process," said Usman.

The Attorney General's Office through a team of investigators at the Deputy Attorney General's Investigation Directorate for Special Crimes (JAM PIDSUS) has determined and detained 3 suspects in connection with the alleged corruption case in the provision of 4G BTS infrastructure and package 1, 2, 3 supporting infrastructure, 4, and 5 BAKTI Kemenkominfo in 2020 to 2022.

As previously announced, the Head of the AGO's Legal Information Center, Ketut Sumedana, explained that the three suspects were AAL as the Managing Director of BAKTI Kemenkominfo, GMS as the Managing Director of PT Mora Telematics Indonesia, YS as the 2020 University of Indonesia Human Development Expert (HUDEV).

To speed up the investigation process, Ketut said the three suspects had been detained, where AAL was detained at the Salemba State Detention Center, Attorney General's Office Branch for 20 days from January 4 2023 to January 23, 2023.

YS was detained at the Salemba State Detention Center, Attorney General's Office Branch for 20 days from January 4 2023 to January 23, 2023.

GMS was detained at the Salemba State Detention Center, South Jakarta District Attorney's Office for 20 days from January 4 2023 to January 23, 2023.

"AAL has deliberately issued regulations that have been arranged in such a way as to close opportunities for other potential participants so that fair and competitive business competition does not materialize in getting bid prices. This was done in order to secure procurement prices that have been marked-up in such a way." Ketut said.

While the GMS suspects jointly provided input and advice to the AAL suspect in the Managing Director's Regulations, several matters were known to be intended to benefit the vendor and the consortium as well as the company concerned, which in this case acted as a supplier of one of the devices.

Finally, Ketut added, YS had violated the law by using the HUDEV UI Institute to make a technical study which in fact was made by the person concerned himself, where the technical review was basically in order to accommodate the interests of the suspect AAL to be included in the study resulting in an expensive price on OE.

As a result of the actions of the suspects, Article 2 paragraph (1) and Article 3 jo. Article 18 of RI Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended and supplemented by RI Law Number 20 of 2001 jo. Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 1999 concerning Amendments to Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Corruption jo. Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code.

In addition, in order to strengthen the investigation, the Investigative Team also conducted searches at four different locations where the suspects lived.
