JAKARTA - The Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team launched its new motorbike in Jakarta, Tuesday, January 17. Indonesia is again the venue for the launch of the new Yamaha motorbike due to a number of factors.

One of them is the passion for motorcycle racing, especially MotoGP, in Indonesia. That passion is what makes Yamaha MotoGP excited for the new season.

"Thank you, Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing (@yamahaindonesia) for inviting us to your 2023 '3S Dealer Meeting'. Your passion for motorcycles and motorsports makes us all excited for the 2023 MotoGP season," Yamaha MotoGP said on its Instagram account.

Yamaha's new motorcycle on display in Jakarta is indeed different. Wrapped in a more aggressive livery, the Yamaha YZR-M1 will become a "war horse" in MotoGP 2023.

President of Yamaha Motor Racing, Takahiro Sumi said he was optimistic about facing MotoGP this season.

It is believed that a number of changes and developments made by Yamaha throughout the winter can bring Fabio Quartararo and Franco Morbidelli to challenge for the title.

"This season our target is definitely to win back the championship title into our hands," said Sumi in a press conference session.

"We worked very hard to develop our M1 to help Fabio and Frankie against tough rivals. We made changes in almost every area of the bike, especially increasing top-speed performance as our priority."

"But in the end for this motorbike, the most important thing is the harmony between the rider and the machine in order to reach a higher level."

Apart from being promised a higher top speed, Quartararo and Morbidelli will find their rides feeling more aggressive with a camouflage design on the motorbike body.

The three-claw Monster logo as the main sponsor is now surrounded by a camouflage pattern like a combat vehicle with a combination of blue, black, and gray.

"Now you can see things that are a bit more aggressive, younger, and have a camouflage feel. This camouflage impression is not accidental," said Yamaha Motor Racing managing director Lin Jarvis.

"Designed by one of the world's top designers, Aldo Drudi from Italy. The idea is to be aggressive, because we will fight, we will fight, we will challenge," he continued.

Quartararo is no less optimistic. Despite having just recovered from an arm injury while practicing motocross during the winter break, he feels fully prepared to fight back for the world title.

"I will fight to become a champion again," said Quartararo. "I'm sure with my team and Yamaha, I will bring the title back to the factory team."

The 2023 MotoGP season will resume starting March 27 with the opening race in Portugal and closing in Valencia on November 26.

Dorna Sports as the organizer implemented a new format this year by holding a sprint race on Saturday before the main race the following day, presenting a total of 42 races for motor racing fans around the world.
