JAKARTA - The U-23 Indonesian national team will face Thailand in the semifinals of the 2021 SEA Games football. The match will be held at Thien Truong Stadium, Nam Dinh, Vietnam, Thursday, May 19, at 16.00 p.m. GMT+7 (Indonesian Time).

The Indonesian national team is shrouded in dark memories ahead of this match. They lost in the 2020 AFF Cup to the same opponent. However, the coach of the Young Garuda Squad, Shin Tae-yong, remains optimistic.

"We did lose to Thailand in the AFF Cup 20202. But the situation this time is different," said Shin, as quoted by Antara.

"Now, things will be very different in this tournament. Indonesia has changed a lot," he continued.

The South Korean coach is aware that the opponent he is facing is a strong team in Southeast Asia. For that, he prepared his team carefully ahead of facing Thailand.

"Obviously we can get the best results as much as possible," he said.

Shin Tae-yong has the target of bringing the U-23 Indonesian National Team to become champions at the 2021 SEA Games. The last time the Red and White Squad occupied the highest podium in the football branch, namely in 1991.
