DENPASAR - The Bali Police are investigating the case of a junior high school student with the initials MR (14) in Denpasar, Bali, who is suspected of being a victim of abuse by members of the police. The student was allegedly trampled on by his leg until it broke and his body was also electrocuted.

From the data collected, it is suspected that the incident occurred in the By Pass area of Sanur, South Denpasar, Bali, on Saturday, September 25 in the morning.

The persecution allegedly took place when members of the police conducted raids on illegal racing in the area. Due to the incident, the victim underwent surgery for a broken leg at a private hospital in Denpasar City.

MR's family, who did not receive the treatment, immediately reported the case to the Bali Police Profession and Security (Ditpropam).

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations of the Bali Police, Commissioner Syamsi, confirmed that his party had received the report. The Bali Police Ditpropam is currently investigating the case.

"So, it is suspected that the police are related to this, and not necessarily the police because the one who reported is also not sure that it is the police," said Syamsi, when met at the Bali Police Headquarters, Thursday, September 30.

"So, there is no certainty but in this case, they (the victim's parents) reported it to Propam. So Propam is still carrying out investigations related to cases of persecution," he continued.

But Syamsi said that at the time of the incident, the victim fell and was assisted by uniformed police officers to the hospital. Meanwhile, according to Syamsi, the perpetrator of the persecution was not wearing a uniform.

"After being taken to the hospital, they just reported it. It is not clear who the perpetrators were because they were not dressed in uniform. So when the security was carried out the issuance of illegal racing then the incident occurred," he said.

It also does not know the unit that controls illegal racing.

"I am not clear which one carried out the operation, but what is clear is that illegal racing was carried out during patrols. So the victim was assisted by the police, but what is clear is whether it is an individual or not is still under investigation at the Propam," said Syamsi.
