PMI From Lombok Allegedly Killed By Fellow Indonesian Citizens In Malaysia

MATARAM - Indonesian migrant worker (PMI) from Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), Ahmad Rifai, reportedly died allegedly killed by a colleague using a sharp weapon in Malaysia.

The head of Pendem Village, Janapria District, Central Lombok Hasan Basri, said that his residents who worked in Malaysia were reportedly killed.

The village government together with the labor and transmigration service (Disnakertrans) have also visited the funeral home to listen to the family's stories.

"Recognition of the family, the victim works as a foreman in Malaysia and the perpetrator is the operator of heavy equipment or subordinates of the victim," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 18.

The incident occurred on Sunday (15/12). The victim was allegedly stabbed by his subordinates not long after the victim had just finished communicating with his family in Lombok.

This incident then circulated a lot on social media (social media). Now the perpetrators of the stabbing have been arrested by the police in Malaysia, while the repatriation of the bodies is currently still in the management stage.

"The alleged perpetrator came from Makassar," he said.

He told me a few moments before the incident the victim contacted the family via video call (VC) asking about the condition of the family. After that, the victim's cellphone died. That's when the stabbing occurred by the perpetrator.

"The victim was immediately stabbed in the back, the victim suffered injuries to the neck and stomach," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Placement, Expansion of Manpower and Transmigration of the Central Lombok Manpower and Transmigration Office, Supiandi, when confirmed, was not willing to provide detailed comments regarding the incident.

"Our team has traced the victim's family to get information. Because it is possible that the victim left non-procedurally," he said.
