Komnas HAM To Write To KPI And Police Regarding Cases Of Sexual Harassment And Bullying MS

JAKARTA - The National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) immediately wrote to the Central Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) and the Police. This letter was sent to follow up on allegations of sexual harassment and bullying or bullying experienced by an employee of the Central KPI, MS.

"We will send a letter on Monday or Tuesday to the KPI or the police", said Komnas HAM Commissioner, Beka Ulung Hapsara, in a video caption that was shown on the Indonesia Komnas HAM Public Relations YouTube, Friday, September 3.

"So we will send a letter asking for information with the details that I have conveyed, and I hope that both of them can respond quickly. So the progress or progress can also be carried out quickly", he added.

To KPI, Komnas HAM will later ask for information on whether any efforts have been made against allegations of sexual harassment and bullying of its employees.

"Then who should be responsible for responding to the events that occurred, this case, regarding their SOPs in dealing with existing cases. That's roughly the case", said Beka.

Meanwhile, for the police, the report made by MS will be investigated later. "We want to get information on what developments are like, what steps from the police, what articles will be imposed, then future plans from the police that will be carried out", he said.

In addition, Komnas HAM will also explore the reports that MS had made in 2019-2020 which were later rejected.

As previously reported, MS said he was a victim of sexual harassment and bullying by seven of his more senior colleagues.

One of the sexual harassment she experienced was in 2015, when the perpetrators ganged up on her head, hands, feet, stripped her naked, pinned her, and abused her.

"(They, ed) harassed me by scribbling on my testicles using markers", said MS in a chain message he sent because he felt it was his last resort.

"This incident traumatized me and I lost emotional stability. How can this kind of malicious harassment happen at the Central KPI? What kind of syndicate is the perpetrator? They even documented my gender and made me powerless against them after the tragedy", he added.

Related to this case, the Criminal Investigation Police also intervened to investigate this matter. In fact, a team of investigators has been deployed.

However, the Director of General Crimes at the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police, Brigadier General Andi Rian, has not been able to comment much on the matter. He emphasized that the team that was deployed would seek information and instructions first.

In addition, MS has also reported this case to the Central Jakarta Metro Police on Wednesday, September 1 last night. When reporting, he was accompanied by the Central KPI Commissioner, Nuning Rodiyah.
