JAKARTA - The Head of the Tanah Abang Metro Sector Police (Kapolsek), Police Commissioner (Kompol) Singgih Hermawan said, the perpetrator who threw stones in front of the DPR building with the initials UM, he was a homeless person who often moved locations.

"He's everywhere, moving around. The perpetrator with the initials UM (36) works as a scavenger. It's only been a day before (the perpetrator) was from Depok, he said. That's why we are developing whether the perpetrator in Depok was also the one throwing the stones," said the Sector Police Chief, when contacted by VOI, Monday, August 23, morning.

According to the perpetrator's confession, UM claimed to live in Depok. So far, neither the perpetrator's family nor his relatives have visited the Tanah Abang Metro Police.

"We just wanted to check this. He said he was just moving around. Meanwhile, no family has come to the Tanah Abang Metro Police yet," he said.

To account for his actions, UM has been huddled in the detention cell of the Tanah Abang Police Headquarters.

"The perpetrator has been arrested and wants to be developed again. The victim has also made a police report," he said.

Until now, the Tanah Abang Metro Police are still collecting testimony from other witnesses and CCTV footage.

"There is already evidence of CCTV footage. We are still investigating," he said.

Previously reported, members of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Tanah Abang Metro Police arrested the perpetrators of throwing stones at the Crossing Bridge of Gatot Subroto street, to be precise in front of the DPR Building, Tanah Abang District, Central Jakarta.

Police Commissioner Singgih said the incident occurred on Tuesday, August 17, last night. The perpetrator with the initials UM dropped a large stone from the top of the JPO.

At the same time, a four-wheeled Honda BRV with number B 2496 BKE passed on Gatot Subroto street. Right above the hood of the car, the perpetrator immediately dropped a stone so that the top hood of the car was crushed.

"The car was badly damaged, the top part was crushed due to the impact of a hard object from the top of the JPO," he said.

In addition to damaging the passing motorist's car, the perpetrator's actions also caused injuries to the police officers of the motorized patrol unit. A boulder that fell from above after hitting the hood of the driver's car also injured a police officer named Insp. Hendro. The officer fell because he could not avoid the stone dropped by the perpetrator.

"Insp. Hendro suffered injuries to his hands and feet," said the police chief.

The perpetrator was charged with Article 406 of the Criminal Code and or Article 335 (1) of the Criminal Code and or Article 2 (1) of the Emergency Law Number 12 of 1951.
