JAKARTA - The DKI Provincial Government held a declaration of COVID-19 vaccination for pregnant women at the hall page of the DKI City Hall. This continues the decision of the Ministry of Health which has allowed vaccination for pregnant women.

This vaccination announcement was also held in various local governments, such as Ambon, Manado, Pontianak, Padang, Bangka Belitung, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Malang, and Kupang.

DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan reviewed the vaccination of pregnant women with Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartato and Deputy Governor of DKI, Ahmad Riza Patria. Anies considers this vaccination to be an answer to the anxiety of pregnant women who previously could not be vaccinated.

"Today, we are launching a national vaccination program (pregnant women). God willing, this answers the anxiety that has existed for months and is also a gift of independence for pregnant women throughout Indonesia", said Anies at DKI City Hall, Central Jakarta, Thursday, August 19.

Anies admitted that since the start of the vaccination process in early 2021, the group of pregnant women has not become a priority because it is still in the process of being studied for their safety after undergoing the vaccination process.

"Pregnant women are in a very complicated situation. In the current situation, they must comply with health protocols. This is their key, but the risks they face are quite large, because when there is an answer that they can vaccinate with the SOP. Then, today also launch a program that God willing, will answer and at the same time a gift of independence for pregnant women throughout Indonesia", said Anies.

He noted that currently there are 1.754 pregnant women who have received the first dose of vaccination.

Anies hopes that this vaccination process can be strengthened by studies from various campuses to conduct research and monitor every pregnant woman who has received vaccinations.

Because, according to Anies, the results of this study can be a strong basis, because it has comprehensive data on vaccinations for pregnant women.

"Hopefully, later, the policies that we make, we can do more in accordance with the facts on the ground. So, we are very grateful to be able to provide certainty for pregnant women. We will prepare Jakarta to complete it", he added.
