Airlangga: Active Cases Of COVID-19 Outside Java-Bali Up 34 Percent

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Committee for Handling COVID-19 and National Economic Recovery, Airlangga Hartarto, said that there was an increase in active cases of COVID-19 outside Java-Bali. In fact, the increase in cases currently reaches 34 percent.

"We see that active cases outside Java have increased by 34 percent starting from Aceh", Airlangga said in an online press conference broadcast on BNPB's YouTube, Wednesday, July 7.

From this increase, there were several provinces that received more attention from the government, namely Bangka Belitung, Bengkulu, East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, Lampung, North Maluku, Maluku, East Nusa Tenggara, and West Papua.

"And we see, nationally active cases are indeed some areas outside Java-Bali that are high in Papua, East Kalimantan, Riau Islands, and West Sumatra", said Airlangga.

Furthermore, he also revealed that several provinces are of concern because they have recorded bed occupancy ratios (BOR) above 60 percent.

The provinces are Lampung, Riau Islands, East Kalimantan, West Papua, West Kalimantan, South Sumatra, Bengkulu and West Sumatra. "This is the government's concern", said Airlangga.

In addition, he said that there were 43 regencies/cities outside Java-Bali whose implementation of Micro-Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) was increasingly being tightened. The reason is that the assessment results of dozens of districts/regions are at level 4.

It is hoped that regional heads in the region will be disciplined to apply restrictions. "We also ask that the local government prepare the infrastructure for the implementation of the PPKM", he said.
