New Record, BYD Sales Around The World Reach 4 Million Units In 2024

JAKARTA - BYD recorded a new sales record in December 2024 with a total of more than 4 million vehicles selling over 2024.

Citing from the CNevpost page, Thursday, January 2, the Chinese brand sold 514,809 new energy vehicles (NEVs) in December, marking its third time exceeding the 500.000 mark and a record seventh consecutive month of sales.

This number increased by 50.95 percent from 341,043 in the same period last year and increased by 1.58 percent from 506,804 in November 2024. Total sales in 2024 reached 4,272,145 units, up 41.3 percent compared to 3 million units in 2023.

If in more detail citing the Carnewschina page, of the total number above BYD a total of 1,764,992 are BEV vehicles, an increase of 12 percent from last year. Pure electric vehicles accounted for 41.5 percent of BYD's total sales by 2024.

BYD also successfully sold 2,485,378 passenger PHEV vehicles in 2024, up 72.8 percent from 1.4 million in 2023. The plug-in hybrid vehicle represents 58.5 percent of BYD's total sales by 2024.

In addition, BYD also recorded sales for this year reaching 21,775 units. For December, it reached 5,369 units, an increase of 526 percent from the previous year.

This Chinese brand made exports from China through 57,154 vehicles last month, an increase of 58 percent from the previous year. BYD reported that the company managed to export 417,204 vehicles out of China, or an increase of 71.9 percent from 2023.

Previously in 2022, the brand, which was also present in Indonesia, stopped the production of conventional vehicles, and focused on the New Energy Vehicle which includes PHEV, FCEV and pure BEV.
