BANYUWANGI - Rob floods hit the Cacalan Beach area, Banyuwangi, East Java. The tidal flood that occurred this morning reached traders' stalls on Cacalan Beach.

"At 11.00 western Indonesia time, the water had just begun to recede. Luckily there was no damage," said Public Relations of Cacalan Beach Pokdarwis, Darmawan, Thursday, June 24.

According to him, this tidal flood phenomenon occurs every year. Usually the tidal flood occurs within 3 days.

"The anticipation is that a wave barrier is still being built, on the beach which is still under construction," he said.

Meanwhile, Banyuwangi BMKG forecaster Dita Purnamasari said the tidal flood occurred because it was currently entering the new moon phase. This condition makes the tide according to BMKG higher than usual.

"This is normal in the new moon phase, which is expected to occur on June 24-28," she said separately.

In addition, high waves with a range of 3.5-4 meters occur in the waters of Banyuwangi. The cause of these high waves is that the sea surface temperature in Banyuwangi is currently warm.

"Watch out for fishermen and activities on the beach and sea, the condition of high waves until the next week," she said.
