Good News From North Kalimantan, 430 Religious Leaders And Underprivileged Residents Receive Rp1 Million Social Assistance

JAKARTA - At least 430 religious leaders and underprivileged residents received social assistance from the North Kalimantan (Kaltara) Provincial Government of Rp1 million each.

"I hope that the assistance provided can be used as well as possible and can be useful for families," said Governor of North Kalimantan, Zainal Arifin Paliwang, in Tanjung Selor, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, June 23.

The distribution of assistance is carried out in stages. The first phase of assistance was handed over on 22-25 June 2021 for Nunukan and Tana Tidung Regencies.

Zainal said the distribution of the first phase of assistance for Nunukan Regency totaled Rp73 million, while in Tana Tidung Regency it was Rp47 million.

"Each religious leader and the poor can get Rp1 million, although the nominal is not much. Hopefully, this assistance will be useful for the families who receive it," said the governor.

On this occasion, the governor advised religious and community leaders in North Kalimantan to maintain health, especially during the current COVID-19 pandemic.

"Still comply with the health protocols (prokes), namely wearing masks, washing hands, maintaining distance, staying away from crowds, and reducing traveling (5M) so that we avoid COVID-19," said Zainal.

Meanwhile, Deputy Governor of North Kalimantan, Yansen TP said that this assistance is a form of concern for the Governor and Deputy Governor of North Kalimantan, although the amount is not too large.

Yansen hopes that with this assistance, religious and community leaders in North Kalimantan are maintained in their health so that they can make a good contribution to the region, especially Kaltara.

"In accordance with the existing motto Kaltara Rumah Kita, we hope that religious, customary, community, youth and other leaders can play an active role in helping regional development, especially in Kaltara," said Yansen.

Based on data from the National and Political Unity Agency (Kesbangpol), there were 430 beneficiaries, consisting of 91 people from Tarakan, 73 people from Nunukan Regency, 91 people from Malinau Regency, 47 people from Tana Tidung Regency, and 128 people from Bulungan Regency.
