Zulkifli Hasan: It's An Honor If PDI-P Is Invited To A Coalition

JAKARTA - Chairman of the DPP National Mandate Party (PAN) Zulkifli Hasan said it would be an honor if the PDI-P opened the opportunity to form a coalition with the party he leads.

"PDI Perjuangan is a big political party so that when we are invited for a coalition, that's an honor," Zulkifli said as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, June 1.

Zulkifli responded to the statement by the Secretary-General of PDIP Hasto Kristianto who said that his party opened up opportunities for a coalition with PAN, especially after Amien Rais left PAN.

Zulkifli thinks the coalition of PAN for the incoming election not just focused on one party, so that there will be the possibility for a coalition with other party such as Golkar, Gerindra, NasDem, and PKS.

"Of course 20 percent (the threshold for parties to propose presidential candidates, ed), we can't do it alone. So if we are invited to a coalition, it means that the party respects PAN, and we are thankful," said Zulkifli.

The Deputy Chairperson of the MPR emphasized that his party has not yet decided to form a coalition with any political party for the 2024 General Election.

According to him, his party is currently focusing on assisting the Government in handling the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We are currently focusing on handling COVID-19, right? the case is increasing again and the economy is not in good condition. I urge all of us to stop insult each other," he said.

Zulkifli emphasized that the main key to the progress of the Indonesian nation is the unity of the entire community to build the nation.

According to him, all existing differences, especially after the 2019 General Election, must be eliminated, because it is time to unite to overcome various problems of the nation.

"We must stop the problem of 'bat-tadpole', because if we cannot unite, Indonesia cannot progress," continued Zulkifli.
