Hasan Nasbi Denies Digital Repression: Every Day There is Criticism

JAKARTA - Special Presidential Advisor for Communication Hasan Nasbi denied digital repression by the government. He said criticism of the government still arises every day.

Hasan conveyed this at the Presidential Complex, Jakarta, Friday, July 31, when asked by reporters about the alleged digital repression.

"Where is digital repression? Every day there is criticism. There is no digital repression," said Hasan.

Hasan again emphasized that the government did not carry out digital repression.

"Nothing," he said.

Digital repression usually refers to restrictions, pressures, or actions that make people afraid to express their opinions in the digital space. However, Hasan assessed that this was not the case.

The statement came after Hasan also answered questions about criticism of the government. He said the government could respond to or criticize groups of critics.

According to Hasan, his statement about "londo ireng" was not directed at the public in general. He said the term was directed at a certain group that he considered preferred to make noise.

"Criticizing londo ireng is okay. It's not directed at the public in general," said Hasan.

Hasan said the government wanted criticism not to turn into a commotion. He asked the public to build more cohesiveness and optimism.

On the same occasion, Hasan also responded to the issue of security associated with the installation of fences at a number of malls. He asked for news that spread fear to be checked directly in the field.

"The news that spreads fear should also be clarified," he said.

Hasan said journalists could check the facts to determine whether the news was true or just a fear that was circulating.
