COVID-19 Case In Bangka Belitung Has Decreased To Zero Red Zone

JAKARTA - Task Force on Handling COVID-19 in Bangka Belitung Islands Province stated that the district/city in the region is zero red zone or no high risk of coronavirus transmission. This is due to the decrease in new cases of COVID-19 after Eid al-Fitr 1442 H.

"Currently, seven districts/cities have orange zone status or risk of COVID-19 transmission", said Spokesman of task force handling COVID-19 Babel Islands Province Andi Budi Prayitno in Pangkalpinang, reported by Antara, Friday, May 21.

He said based on the weekly risk zoning map of COVID-19 from May 10-16, 2021, the spread of COVID-19 risk zone map in Bangka Belitung Island Province is zero or no red zone, orange zone spread in West Bangka Regency, East Belitung.

Furthermore, Pangkalpinang City, Belitung Regency, Central Bangka, Bangka, South Bangka is also orange zone status, while the yellow zone (low risk) is zero or absent.

"Although Babel is zero red zones, we are not tired of encouraging and inviting local governments and underlining that awareness and discipline in implementing health protocols is the simplest and easiest and cheapest way so that we and those around us are not exposed to COVID-19", he said.

According to him, in the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic that has not subsided, the holiday of Eid al-Fitr 1442 H and homecoming as the previous year, despite restrictions, tightening and elimination has the potential to be a means of transmission and spread of COVID-19 that will be widespread.

"After the Eid al-Fitr holiday and homecoming, there is expected to be a spike and transmission of COVID-19 cases in Babel. Therefore, the Task Force tightened surveillance at the entrances in this area", he said.

He added that early detection efforts against potential transmission and entry of mutations and new variants of COVID-19 are very important, the Task Force on Handling COVID-19 in Bangka Belitung Island Province conducts screening by applying COVID-19 tests again.

"For all travelers or passengers of transportation modes who arrive, come, enter the territory of Bangka Belitung Island Province must be retested COVID-19", he said.
