NTT Police Forms Team To Investigate Police Cases Persecution Of Journalists In Manggarai

East Nusa Tenggara Police formed an investigation team to investigate the alleged involvement of the police in the persecution and intimidation of a journalist in Manggarai Regency.

"Bidpropam is very serious in handling complaint reports from journalist Media Floresa, therefore Friday (18/10) has started audits and investigations," said Head of Public Relations of the NTT Police, Kombes Ariasandy, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, October 17.

This was conveyed in connection with the continuation of the report received by the NTT Police on October 11, 2024 in the case of alleged abuse by the police to the local media pemred, Floresa.

This incident occurred when he was present and covered the incident where residents refused to build a geothermal project in early October 2024.

Kombes Ariasandy said after the NTT Police received the report. Bidpropam formed an investigative team to handle this case in a transparent and accountable manner.

"Tim dari Propam Polda NTT akan langsung turun ke lapangan untuk melakukan audit investigasi terhadap pelaksanaan pengamanan yang diduga mengakibatkan penganiayaan oleh oknum anggota tersebut," jelasnya.

The complaint report was submitted by a journalist on October 11, 2024, who claimed to have been abused by a member of the Manggarai Police.

As a result of this action, the complainant was in pain and traumatized by the alleged abuse and intimidation.

"After the audit and investigation is carried out, we will immediately provide information regarding the progress of this case," concluded Kombes Ariasandy.
