JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated a new cancer service building at the Mother and Child Cancer Service Building belonging to the National Cancer Center of the Dharmais Cancer Hospital, Ministry of Health (Kemenkes), Friday, August 30.

"I entered a new building at Dharmais Hospital, I felt like I entered a five-star hotel, the building was neat, the design was good, the lights were also bright because I used to go to the regional hospital, how come it was dark, sad. This was bright and what I was amazed by was that the equipment was really super sophisticated, digital, everything," said the President.

The President revealed that the budget spent on the construction of the new Dharmais Hospital was also not small. Meanwhile, the building was built since 2022 with the support of funds from the Islamic Development Bank (IDB).

"Indeed, the budget spent is also not small, not a small amount of money comes from the Islamic Development Bank. The budget for the building is Rp427 billion, only for the building. For the hospital equipment budget it is Rp313 billion plus still for human resources Rp37 billion. Please add up how much it was, it was very large," he said.

However, the President emphasized that he had no problem with the government issuing a large budget. As long as, he said, the budget was really right on target, for example, the construction of the Dharmais Cancer Hospital Mother and Child Cancer Service Building.

"It's okay, the government invests, spends a budget, there is no problem. As long as the budget is really right on target. It can solve health service problems, especially cancer for mothers and children, the most important thing is," said the President.

In his remarks, the President also appreciated the construction of the Sardjito Hospital's Mother and Child Health Service Building (RS) Yogyakarta in Sleman Regency, DIY and the Hasan Sadikin Hospital's Mother and Child Health Service Building (RSHS), Bandung City, West Java, which he inaugurated on Wednesday, August 28 and Thursday 29 August

"Everything is like entering a 5-star hotel," said the President.

For this reason, the President reiterated that if the budget is used on target, the results will not disappoint.

"This is if the money is used properly, it's like this. If the money is used is not right, the building looks definitely. The design is no longer good, later the construction will also look like it's not straight. It looks like everything," he said.
