60 Percent Of Drugs Run Out, Health Services In Gaza Are Threatened With Paralyms

JAKARTA - About 60 percent of major medicines in Gaza are depleted due to the raging war and the closure of borders by Israel. Health services are threatened with paralysis. In a statement, Gaza's Ministry of Health on Saturday, August 24 stated that the ministry warned of a crisis of medicines and medical supplies, as well as condemned its impact on the lives of patients and injured victims. "Hospitals and health centers are experiencing a very acute shortage of medicines and medical supplies," the statement said. The lack of resources could result in the complete cessation of medical services, including emergency care, operations, intensive care, analysis, primary health services, and mental health services. Gaza's Ministry of Health calls for international organizations and affiliated with the United Nations to act by providing medicines and medical supplies.

Since the war on October 7, 2023, Israel has cut off electricity supplies to Gaza, halting fuel shipments for the only power plant in the region, and halting supplies of water, communications, food, and medical aid. Currently, only limited amounts of medical supplies and international aid have entered Gaza through Israel. The number is far from sufficient to meet the needs of the population struggling with the dire humanitarian crisis.
