Ditpolairud Polda Kaltara Fails To Smuggle 6 Kg Of Crystal Methamphetamine From Malaysia

TANJUNG SELOR - Ditpolairud Polda North Kalimantan (Kaltara) revealed a narcotics case in the river waters of Karang Anyar Village Beach, West Tarakan District, Tarakan City, Kaltara.

The Head of Public Relations of the North Kalimantan Police, Kombes Budi Rahmat, explained that this disclosure began on Thursday, September 5, 2024, personnel from the Gakkum Sub-Directorate of the North Kalimantan Regional Police received information from the public about the smuggling of methamphetamine from Tawau-Malaysia to Tarakan City.

"Furthermore, Gakkum Sub-Directorate personnel monitored the airport River waters and saw a speedboat dropping one male passenger carrying a sack," he said, Thursday, September 12.

The police then arrested the man and examined his luggage.

"From the results of the search, it was found that a sack containing four buckets was neatly arranged, in which there were four large packs of crystalline powder which were suspected to be methamphetamine stored in each bucket," said Kombes Budi Rahmat.

"The methamphetamine was placed at the bottom of the bucket which had been neatly glued," he continued.

The police confiscated 6 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine (Kg) and a number of other items.

"The suspect who was arrested had the initials W, a resident of Punggaloba, West Kendari District, Kendari City. Gakkum personnel at the Ditpolairud Polda Kaltara then secured the suspect and all evidence that had been found for further investigation," he concluded.
