JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta General Election Commission (KPU) invites the public to exercise their right to vote and not to do the white category (golput) during the 2024 Pilkada.

This was conveyed in response to the viral movement of the three candidate pairs (paslon) on social media (medsos).

"We hope that Jakarta residents will flock to the TPS. This is the opportunity for the post-UU Jakarta momentum number 2 of 2024 concerning the Jakarta Special Region (DKJ) to no longer be the capital city of Jakarta, so Jakarta's future is in the hands of the community," said the Head of the Jakarta KPU Technical Division, Dody Wijaya when met at the DKI Jakarta KPU office, Friday, September 13, confiscated by Antara.

In more detail, Doddy said, if people do not attend the TPS during the Pilkada, their votes will not be counted as winners.

Doddy gave an example, if there are 100 residents, 50 people have scored and 50 others have not been present at the TPS, then after calculating there are 20 invalid votes, then the other 30 votes will be the winner.

"In Jakarta, it is added 50 percent plus one of the total valid votes," said Doddy.

This means, he continued, that the goal movement or the voting movement of all candidate pairs has no meaning in the Pilkada. Doddy said that this movement did not affect the candidate pair's victory.

"In fact, in simple terms, candidate pairs are easier to win because they only fought for it, about 30 votes in the analogy of the 100 votes," said Doddy.

On the other hand, DKI KPU member Astri Megatari said that his party will conduct socialization to the community in order to increase community participation in the 2024 Pilkada so that they can exercise their voting rights properly and correctly.

"We are confident and we are optimistic that Jakarta residents are now smart, critical and everyone can judge these three candidate pairs with open thoughts and views," said Astri.

Astri said that his party is also optimistic by looking at the profiles of Jakarta residents who are currently growing and digitally literate.

Astri assessed that this actually made the people of Jakarta even more critical in choosing who would lead Jakarta in the next five years.
