JAKARTA - The Gerindra Party and PKS paired a duet between Mahyeldi and Vasco Ruseimy in the election for the Governor and Deputy Governor of West Sumatra (West Sumatra) for the period 2024-2029.
The determination of the Mahyeldi-Vasco duet is stated in a letter numbered 07-1005/Rekom/DPP-GERINDRA/2024 dated July 11, 2024, signed by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees/Chairman of the Gerindra Party Prabowo Subianto and Secretary General Ahmad Muzani.
In the letter quoted from Antara, Friday, July 12, the Gerindra Party assigned the Mahyeldi-Vasco pair to coordinate with regional administrators to develop a winning program in West Sumatra.
Then, the Mahyeldi-Vasco pair was also asked to complete the coalition to meet the 20 percent requirement to register with the KPU.

The determination of the Mahyeldi-Vasco pair was also listed in the PKS DPP letter Number 628.3C-1/Sekp/DPP-PKS/2024 dated July 4, 2024, which was signed by PKS President Ahmad Syaikhu and Secretary General Aboe Bakar Alhabsyi.
The PKS DPP ordered party officials at the provincial level to register the Mahyeldi-Vasco pair with the KPU.

"After the discussion, the DPP decided on the Mahyeldi-Vasko Ruseimy pair. This is beyond the authority of the DPW. Our position only applies for names to be discussed by the DPP," he said.
He said the DPP decision was based on national political considerations and the vision and mission of West Sumatra in the future.
The PKS DPP considers that the one who fits into the current pair is Mahyeldi-Vasko Ruseimy.
