Minister Of Home Affairs Tito Prepares Sanctions Rules For ASN Involved In Online Gambling

JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian said his institution was preparing regulations regarding sanctions for state civil servants involved in online gambling. "I will ask the Secretariat General (Secretary General) to sit together about what sanctions are given according to the law to provide a deterrent effect," Tito said at the Ministry of Home Affairs Office, Jakarta, Antara, Wednesday, June 19. Tito emphasized that the discussion of sanctions for ASN who are exposed to online gambling needs to be discussed with other ministries/agencies. "When it comes to ASN, it's not just the Minister of Home Affairs. The Minister of Home Affairs has a connection, especially ASN in the regions. If ASN is at the central level, the Minister of Home Affairs is not related, it needs to be discussed with the Ministry of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform), BKN (State Civil Service Agency)," he said. Previously, President Joko Widodo issued a Decree on the Establishment of an Online Gambling Eradication Task Force led by the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Hadi Tjahjanto. Reporting from the Legal Documentation and Information Network (JDIH) of the Ministry of State Secretariat in Jakarta, Saturday (15/6), the establishment of the Online Gambling Eradication Task Force is contained in Presidential Decree Number 21 of 2024 concerning the Online Gambling Eradication Task Force which was published in Jakarta, June 14, 2024. Explained in the copy file of the Presidential Decree, the consideration of establishing an Online Gambling Eradication Task Force because gambling activities are illegal and result in financial losses, social and psychological disorders that can lead to criminal acts. President Jokowi involved the inter-ministerial/institutional role in realizing the acceleration of eradicating online gambling in Indonesia. Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs as Chair of the Task Force, accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy as Deputy Chair of the Task Force, Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie as Daily Chair of Prevention, and Director General of Information and Public Communication of the Ministry of Communication and Information Usman Kansong as Deputy Chair of the Prevention Daily.

Then, the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo was trusted to carry out the position of Daily Head of Law Enforcement.
