JAKARTA - The type of Balinese cattle became the prima donna for sacrificial animals chosen by various people in Jakarta on Eid al-Adha 1445 Hijri.

"Here there are also buyers from among officials, all buying groups, from the lower economic circles to officials, their entrepreneurs are all enthusiastic about buying sacrificial cows, because the moment is now Eid al-Kurban," said a Java Harja cattle trader, Saturday, June 15.

Jaja, who is a cattle trader in Cakung Cilincing, East Jakarta, admitted to bringing in 330 cows from Bali and now there are five small sizes that have not been sold.

He revealed that his party sold sacrificial cows ranging from a price of Rp. 18 million for a small size of up to Rp. 40 million more for the size of a cow weighing around 500-500 kilograms (kg).

"In fact, until now many are looking for large cows from Bali with a range of 500 kilograms. Until now, we are still (selling) in Balinese cattle because it is according to the interest of buyers who are looking for this type of cow," said Jaja.

He said that his party mostly sells Balinese cows because they adjust to market needs and are most in demand by the community of various groups, not only officials but generally the public who want to sacrifice on Eid al-Adha.

According to Jaja, Balinese cattle are in demand by various groups because there are several advantages, including having dense meat fiber, low water levels.

In addition, the Balinese cow from its physical side has small bones and solid meat and thin skin.

Jaja said that all of the cows sold around 330 had been subjected to a medical examination by veterinarians carried out by the East Jakarta Health and Livestock Sub-dept.

"Alhamdulillah, he has been tested, all his health has been checked by doctors (animals) from the East Jakarta Health and Livestock Sub-dept.," explained the man who started the cattle selling business since 2008.
