Minister Dody Accelerates the Completion of the 1 Kupang Integrated People's School Infrastructure, Ensuring Optimal Operation

JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo ensures that the supporting infrastructure for the Integrated People's School (SRT) 1 Kupang Regency will be completed as part of accelerating the operation of People's Schools throughout Indonesia.

One of the focus of the completion is the improvement of access to the school area, so that all learning activities can take place safely and comfortably. As of July 16, 2026, the overall construction progress has reached 93.98 percent.

Minister PU Dody Hanggodo said the Integrated People's School 1 Kupang Regency is one example of accelerating the operationalization of the People's School Program which has not only been ready for use, but has also been continuously improved so that all students can obtain decent education facilities.

"We must ensure that the facilities and infrastructure are really ready to support the children's learning. Those that are not yet completed will be completed immediately, especially access to schools, so that all learning activities can run well," said Minister Dody when reviewing the Integrated People's School I Kupang Regency, Friday, July 17.

According to Minister Dody, the construction of the People's School not only presents a school building, but also ensures that all supporting infrastructure is available so that students can learn in a decent and quality environment.

The Integrated People's School 1 Kupang Regency was built as an integrated education area that serves the levels of elementary, middle, and high schools with the boarding concept.

This area is equipped with various educational and supporting facilities, including elementary, middle, and high schools, male and female dormitories, teachers' apartments, libraries, computer laboratories, language laboratories, science laboratories, UKS rooms, counseling rooms, canteens at each level of education, public kitchens, multipurpose buildings, houses of worship, sports fields, and supporting utilities such as power houses, pump houses, and TPS.

A number of priority buildings have been completed 100 percent and have been utilized, including high school buildings, Putra SD 1 Dormitory, Putri SD 2 Dormitory, worship buildings, kitchens, SD, SMP, and high school canteens, power houses, pump houses, and TPS.

Meanwhile, several other buildings such as elementary and junior high schools, dormitories, teacher housing, and other supporting facilities are being completed gradually without disrupting the school's operations which have started since July 13, 2026.

Minister Dody appreciated all parties who had worked hard so that the Integrated People's School 1 Kupang Regency could be functional.

He also instructed that all remaining work, especially the improvement of access to schools and other supporting infrastructure, be completed immediately.

Currently, work is being prepared to improve access to the school area by repairing about 5 kilometers of roads, including the main road and alternative routes (shortcuts). The work is targeted to be completed in August 2026.

During the visit, Minister Dody also interacted directly with the students. He advised the students to maintain the spirit of learning, respect their parents, and take advantage of the opportunities provided by the government to achieve a better future.

"The spirit must be maintained. Study diligently, don't forget to pray to your parents. You all must be successful. Our task is to ensure that the facilities and infrastructure are available so that you can study comfortably," said Minister Dody.

The Head of the SRT 1 School of Kupang Regency, Felipina Agustina Kale, expressed his appreciation for the government's attention, especially the Ministry of PU, which continues to improve school facilities even though educational activities have begun.

"We are very grateful because the government not only builds school buildings, but also continues to ensure that all supporting facilities are equipped. The presence of the Minister is an encouragement for us to provide the best education services to children," said Felipina.

Overall, the Integrated People's School 1 Kupang Regency has a capacity of 1,080 people and is currently occupied by 246 students, consisting of 20 elementary school students, 112 junior high school students, and 114 high school students.
