Many Indonesian Citizens Work On Online Gambling Platforms, Kominfo: TIP Indications

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Information found indications of a criminal act of trafficking in persons (TPPO) in cases of online or online gambling in Southeast Asia.

Director General of Information and Public Communication of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics Usman Kansong said that many Indonesians were employed at gambling locations without being informed about the work to be done.

"Even in online gambling cases, it is suspected that there is a TIP, there are Indonesians who are employed in gambling locations and usually those who are both offline and online," said Usman, ANTARA, Saturday, June 15.

Usman revealed that Indonesians who were victims of TIP were employed on online gambling sites abroad.

"That's why they were lied to, say so, they will be employed in a legal place. So, it's legal there, yes, in some countries this is legal gambling, but of course for Indonesians this is something illegal," he explained.

"So, we heard that there is also an element of TIP which is also in gambling places in Southeast Asia," continued Usman.

Previously, Tuesday, April 23, 2024, Director General of Information and Public Communication of Kominfo Usman Kansong stated that the task force would cooperate with Interpol to facilitate the handling of cross-border cases.
