The Road Connecting Pamekasan Collapsed 14 Meters Long, Cracked 23 Meters Long

PAMEKASAN - The connecting route between Pamekasan and Pasean District, East Java, has collapsed. As a result, traffic lane access is disrupted.

"It happened this afternoon at around 16.10 Western Indonesia Time," said the Coordinator of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Pamekasan Regency, Budi Cahyoni, as quoted by Antara, Sunday, March 14.

The location of the collapsed highway is located in Gua 1 Hamlet, Tampojung Gua Village, Waru District, Pamekasan, about 25 kilometers to the north of Pamekasan City.

"The subsidence is about 14 meters, while the road that has been cracked reaches 23 meters and underneath the collapsed road are houses," said Budi.

The trigger for the subsidence is thought to have been due to continuous moderate to heavy rain in the last two weeks.

The conditions around the location of the incident were very dangerous because it was close to people's homes.

As a result of this incident, the traffic flow on the provincial road which connects Pamekasan City with Waru, Pasean, and Batumarmar Districts was disrupted.

Officers have installed signs and implemented an open-close system for motorized vehicle drivers, both from Pamekasan and vice versa.

Waru Sub-district, is one of the sub-districts included in the records of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Pamekasan Regency Government as an area prone to landslides.

Other areas that are also prone to landslides include Pakong, Larangan, Kadur, and Pasean Districts.
