BOGOR - The Bogor Regency Government, West Java, is preparing a cable car project that connects the Summarecon area with the Gunung Mas Rest Area on the Puncak Tourism Route, through a private investment scheme without using the APBD.

Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto said the project was still in the feasibility study stage while the local government was building communication with a number of investors.

"There is a concept of a cable car, then there is a concept of a KRL, and so on. But we have to talk objectively that it needs a large amount of financing," said Rudy as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, July 6.

He emphasized that the construction of the cable car would not burden the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD) because the investment needs reached trillions of rupiah.

"We will not impose the cost of construction on the APBD. Because if with the APBD, the cost will cost trillions of rupiah. We want the private sector," he said.

Rudy explained that the concept of the cable car had been prepared by building a shelter below in the Summarecon area in Sukaraja District, as a park and rides location before heading to Puncak area.

From the shelter, tourists will be transported using a cable car to the upper shelter located in the Gunung Mas Rest Area area.

"The concept is actually there. The shelter below it starts from before Gadog, namely Summarecon. We have land there for Summarecon park and ride, then the final point is the rest area," he said.

According to Rudy, the project is one alternative to handling congestion in the Puncak area, which has been relying on highway transportation, as well as encouraging the integration of transportation systems to tourist areas.
