Determination Of DPO Questioned, IPW: Police Investigator In The 2016 Vina Cirebon Case Must Be Audited

JAKARTA - Indonesia Police Watch (IPW) suspects that the police investigator who initially handled the murder case of Vina Dewi Arsita or Vina Cirebon and her lover Muhammad Rizky alias Eky in Cirebon was not professional. This case occurred on August 27, 2016 and was only highlighted again in mid-2024. "This is Vina's problem, Vina's case, Vina's case, this is a problem that must be audited as a team of investigators in 2016. This is a problem because it is suspected that the work of the 2016 investigating team is unprofessional (unprofessional conduct)," said IPW Chairman Sugeng Teg Santoso in his statement, Tuesday, May 28. Sugeng highlighted the determination of the wanted list of people (DPO) by the police regarding this case. According to him, the police provided information on the identity of DPO which was too minimal. Why can three DPOs be released with very minimal identities. This is a question. Because to determine a person as a DPO, it must be ensured that the legal subject exists, the legal subject exists, his identity is clearly related to the physical at least," said Sugeng.

In addition, Sugeng highlighted the steps taken by the police to decide only one DPO in this case. For this reason, he encouraged an examination of police investigators who initially handled this case. "Now it is stated that there is only one. If it is true, then the Police must examine the investigation team in 2016, who is the investigator team, who is the leader, this must be held accountable for this," said Sugeng.
