South Tangerang Police Asked To Be Firm And Quick Response To Child Rape Cases In Pondok Aren

TANGERANG - The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) asked the police to be serious in dealing with rapes allegedly committed by former West Pondok Kacang Village Staff, H against MA (17).

KPAI Commissioner Dian Sasmita assesses that if this case continues to drag on, there will be intimidation from the perpetrators against the victim and his family.

"It is urgent to take serious and serious efforts from the police as law enforcement officers to be able to uncover this case," Dian said when confirmed, Friday, May 17.

Dian asked the police to wait for the victim's statement, but rather an approach to the Supreme Court. Moreover, the victim also had mental disorders or depression after giving birth to a child resulting from rape.

"The police must immediately uncover this case with closeness, not based on the victim's confession (only)," he said.

He also asked the handling of cases to go hand in hand between rehabilitation and legal emphasis. This is because the police must use the Scientific Crime Investigation method or a method that combines procedural techniques and also scientific theories to fight crime.

"So it doesn't go one by one. The legal handling first then rehabilitation or recovery first then the legal emphasis, no. But going hand in hand, law enforcement itself, the police need to prioritize Scientific Crime Investigation related to this case," he said.

MA, a victim of rape H who at the time of the incident was still 16 years old. There is no clarity about this case, even though the South Tangerang Police have received a report made by the family in 2022.

For 2 years this case has been allowed to flow without any clear legal status. The perpetrator, said to be still on the loose, was free to breathe fresh air. Meanwhile, the victim, suffering from mental disorders, gave birth to a child resulting from rape even though in the end the baby did not survive.

The alleged perpetrators were members of the School Committee in Tangsel, village staff and were included in the structure of the South Tangerang DKM. Although finally the position was removed due to the rape case.
