Cellphone Charge On Mattress, Residents' Houses In Kemayoran Burnt

JAKARTA - A densely populated residential area on Jalan Delta, RW 07, Serdang Village, Kemayoran District, Central Jakarta, was hit by a fire on Friday, February 16, morning.

The fire was reported by a resident named Ramadhini (62) that occurred at around 07.03 WIB.

Head of Central Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept., Asril Rizal confirmed the fire incident.

"The object of the building that caught fire was a type of resident's house. After receiving the report, we deployed 6 fire engines with 24 personnel to the location of the fire," said Asril when confirmed by VOI, Friday, February 16, morning.

The process of extinguishing the fire was brief. Firefighters who were deployed to the location managed to control the blaze and extinguish it.

"One house that caught fire, covering an area of 3x3 square meters. The loss was estimated at Rp27 million. The victim was nil," he said.

From the results of the data collection, the cause of the fire was an electrical short circuit.

"Information from the owner of the house is suspected to be charging a cellphone (charging on the cellphone) on the mattress, causing an electrical short circuit," he said.
