Ganjar Will Revise The KPK Law If Elected To Prevent The Intervention Of The Ruler

JAKARTA - Presidential Candidate number three, Ganjar Pranowo said he had three solutions to strengthen the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) if elected with Mahfud MD as president and vice president. One of them is revising Law Number 19 of 2019 which is the basis for the work of the KPK.

"The most important thing to do is revise the KPK Law," said Ganjar, quoted from the podcast 'Speak Up' with Abraham Samad, Friday, February 9.

Ganjar assessed that the revision of the law needed to be carried out to prevent the intervention of the ruling party as it is today. One of the claims is how a regent who was caught in a hand arrest but was not immediately investigated.

In fact, not long after that the regent even gave support to one of the pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election. So, it is necessary to revise the law so that this incident will no longer be repeated in the future.

"If the KPK has been given independence, it should not be co-opted by anyone, and by any group," said the former Governor of Central Java.

"Now it's a joke, right, 'if you want to be safe, support it'. So, I mean, this is cynical," added Ganjar.

In addition to the matter of revision of the law, Ganjar also mentioned the importance of preventing and giving role models.
