Ahmadi (35), a man with a sharp tattoo from Pontianak, was beaten by a mob who chased him in front of Lenteng Agung Station, South Jakarta, for stealing a motorbike in the Pasar Rebo area.

The perpetrator, who was recorded to live in the Ciracas area, launched a motorcycle theft using the letter T key on Jalan TB Simatupang, RT 10/01, Gedong Village, Pasar Rebo District, East Jakarta.

However, the perpetrator failed to steal the Honda motorcycle with the number B 3141 EBV belonging to a resident named Ridwan (38), because the victim installed a double key on the front disk brake. However, even though it failed, Ridwan's motorcycle ignition key was found to be damaged. The perpetrator had fled.

Pasar Rebo Police Chief, Kompol Haris Akhmat Basuki said, initially the picket members received information from residents that on Jalan TB Simatupang there was an attempted motorcycle theft and the perpetrator fled.

Furthermore, members of the Criminal Investigation Unit conducted a crime scene check. Based on witness testimony, the perpetrator fled by riding an angkot T 19 towards Jagakarsa, South Jakarta.

"We did a search and finally in front of Lenteng Agung station, we managed to find the perpetrator and made an arrest," said Kompol Haris when confirmed, Monday, January 29.

From the results of the interrogation, the perpetrator with the initials A admitted his actions that he would take a red Honda brand motorbike at the crime scene. The perpetrator stole by breaking the ignition key of the motorbike using the letter T key.

"The action stopped because it turned out that the front tire was on the lock. From the results of the search, it was found that 1 of the letter T's key children," he said.

For further processing, the perpetrators along with evidence and the victim were taken to the Pasar Rebo Police. The suspect was charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 53 of the Criminal Code related to attempted theft with weight. Currently, the suspect has been detained in the prison cell of the Pasar Rebo Police.
