High Waves In The North Sea Of Jakarta Had Reached 2 Meters

JAKARTA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of DKI Jakarta Province said the condition of the maximum tide north of Jakarta is estimated to reach an altitude of 1.2 meters per day, Wednesday at 09.00 WIB.

"The results of the BMKG analysis, at high tide, the maximum sea level of 1.2 meters occurred on January 24, 2024 at 09.00 WIB. Meanwhile, when it receded, the minimum sea level of 0.1 meters occurred at 19.00 WIB," said BPBD DKI Jakarta through the official social media account "X", Wednesday, January 24.

The sea level of the sea level from the Fish Market Water Gate observation post, Penjaringan, North Jakarta, had reached 208 centimeters (cm).

The condition, which was reported since 07.00 WIB, has increased the alert status to two for the people of the coastal area of North Jakarta and its surroundings.

The Tanjung Priok Maritime Class I Meteorological Station has issued an early warning of coastal flooding (rob) for the northern area of Jakarta which is valid from January 21 to January 27, 2024.

The potential for tidal waves arises due to the phenomenon of the full moon phase which has the potential to increase the maximum sea level in the form of coastal flooding or tidal flooding in the northern coastal area of Jakarta.

The urban villages in Jakarta that need to be aware of the potential for rob include: Kamal Muara, Kapuk Muara, Penjaringan, Pluit and Muara Angke (Penjaringan, North Jakarta).
