The Mataram City Police (Polresta) handled a case of alleged election crime (tipilu) a candidate for legislature (caleg) of the Mataram City DPRD with the initials NKS.

Head of the Mataram Police Satreskrim Kompol I Made Yogi Purusa Utama said the alleged corruption case was related to the NKS activity of distributing rice packages with stickers promoting himself as a candidate for members of the Mataram City DPRD for the 2024-2029 period.

"The handling of this corruption case is a follow-up to the submission of reports from Bawaslu. In the report, the reported activity distributed basic necessities with this sticker allegedly violating Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections," said Yogi in Mataram, Monday, January 15, which was confiscated by Antara.

The report, he continued, also included evidence of NKS' activities distributing rice packages with stickers of himself as a legislative candidate on one of Facebook's social media platforms.

"In the Facebook upload, there are attached photos and writings that direct the recipient of the rice package to choose it as a legislative candidate," he said.

By explaining the construction of the case, Yogi said that his party had raised the status of handling to the police investigation stage.

"Because this report comes from Gakkumdu, we have raised it to a police report. We have 14 days to re-examine the witness with the Gakkumdu team," he said.

When the stage is complete, he said, police investigators will submit the files and evidence to the Mataram Kejari.

"Furthermore, the prosecutor's office has three days to coordinate with the court," he said.

Despite conveying this, Yogi said that no suspect has been named at this stage of investigation.
