A total of 25 ballots for the 2024 General Election were found to be damaged by the East Jakarta General Election Commission (KPU) sort team (Jaktim). The discovery of the broken ballot has been going on since Monday, January 1.
"Based on the results of the temporary sort, the ballot sheets are mostly excess or uncut, in the end there are colors. We consider them'rejects' or damaged, we cannot sort and fold, we return them," said East Jakarta KPU chairman Tedi Kurnia in Jakarta, Wednesday.
According to him, the number of ballots that were damaged was not very significant.
"Of the 100 thousand ballots that we have sorted, the average is around 20-25 ballots that are damaged. This is natural. We have reported it to the leadership," he said.
The damage to the ballot was mostly torn on the side and some had not been cut off so that they were still left.
However, his party has not found the ballot that has been cast.
"We can't think of it as a good ballot. However, we checked it was still complete and no ballots were cast," said Tedi.
The East Jakarta General Election Commission (Jaktim) has sorted and folded 566,500 ballots for the 2024 General Election at the East Jakarta KPU logistics warehouse located in the Jakarta Industrial Estate Pulogadung (JIEP) area, Cakung.
The ballots that were sorted and folded were ballots for candidates for members of the DPR RI and the DKI Jakarta DPRD for Electoral Areas (Dapil) 4 (Cakung, Pulogadung and Matraman), Electoral District 5 (Duren Sawit, Jatinegara and Kramat Jati) and Electoral District 6 (Masars, Cipayung, Ciracas and Pasar Rebo).
