Apple Will Not Make Further Improvements To AirPods Max

JAKARTA AirPods Max, Apple's premium over-ear headphones, will reportedly not get further hardware updates in the future. Although Apple introduced new color options and USB-C connectors in September 2024, the company does not appear to have any concrete plans to further scale up this model.

According to a Bloomberg report, Apple decided not to replace the chips in the AirPods Max to the H2 chip as in the AirPods Pro. As a result, this device still does not support the Adaptive Audio feature which is another product advantage.

Low sales are one of the reasons Apple is reluctant to allocate resources for additional hardware development on AirPods Max. However, these headphones will still be produced and sold. It is likely that the firmware update to improve performance is also still open, although Apple's attention to this product is said to be decreasing.

First launched in 2020, AirPods Max offers features such as active noise cancellation, up to 20 hours of battery life, and a "digital crown" control mechanism. However, this device is inseparable from criticism, including condensation issues under earcups after long use.

However, AirPods Max is still valued for its good sound isolation and reliability. In the absence of a significant planned increase, this product will most likely retain the same design and core features as it was when it was first released.
