JAKARTA - Crude oil prices jumped briefly after US President Donald Trump said Iran would be "dealt with decisively" in response to attempted attacks on US forces.
As reported by CNN, Wednesday, July 29, Brent crude rose 5.8% to US$86.82 per barrel. US crude jumped 6.4% to US$84.30 per barrel.
Dow futures fell 330 points, or 0.6%. S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 futures fell about 0.1% each.
Trump in an interview with Fox News, threatened retaliation for the Iranian missile attack that was successfully intercepted by US forces.
"We will beat them to a pulp," Trump said on Wednesday, July 29 morning local time, reported by CNN.
"We will hit them hard. They will be beaten to a pulp," he continued.
Trump also said the US coordinated with the Iraqis before the US-Saudi joint attack on Iranian-backed Shiite militias in Iraq.
Trump called the militias a "cancer on the world" and did not rule out further action against proxy groups in the region.
