CdM Optimistic Sepak Takraw Can Contribute to Medals at the 2026 Asian Games

The sepak takraw branch is holding training as preparation for the 2026 Asian Games (doc. NOC Indonesia).

JAKARTA - Chef de Mission (CdM) of the Indonesian Contingent for the 2026 Asian Games, Todotua Pasaribu, is very optimistic that the sepak takraw sport (cabor) can contribute medals for the Red-White in the four-year sports festival.

He said this on the sidelines of a visit to Parepare, South Sulawesi, to directly review the preparations of the sepak takraw team to face the Asian countries' major sports festival.

"Seeing the preparations made, we are quite confident that sepak takraw has the opportunity to contribute medals for Indonesia," he said in an official statement received.

In addition to ensuring the readiness of the sepak takraw athletes, this visit was also carried out as a form of commitment to be able to maintain the Indonesian team's medal opportunities.

Todotua was accompanied by the General Chair of the Indonesian Sepak Takraw Association (PSTI), Surianto, and was greeted by the Mayor of Parepare. He then reviewed the training of the women's and men's athletes and discussed with the coaching staff about the progress of coaching and various needs leading up to the 2026 Asian Games.

Todotua said that every visit has the same goal, namely to ensure that athletes can undergo preparations calmly without being burdened by issues outside the arena.

"We are committed to continuing to visit sports branches. From every visit, we want to hear directly their needs and ensure that all non-technical support can be prepared well," he said.

At the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, sepak takraw contributed two silver medals and one bronze. However, this year there is no detailed target that has been revealed.

The 2026 Asian Games are scheduled to take place from September 19 to October 4 in Aichi and Nagoya, Japan. Indonesia will send 420 athletes from 32 sports and set a target of four gold medals.
