Cak Imin Banks Issues Of Identity Politics Targeting Anies Baswedan

JAKARTA - Vice Presidential Candidate Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin dismissed the issue of identity politics inherent in Presidential Candidate Anies Baswedan.

Cak Imin said Anies was a person who had high tolerance for embracing the minority community and upholding diversity when he was still the Governor of DKI Jakarta.

This was conveyed when Cak Imin made a blusukan to the wrong market, Glodok, West Jakarta, Thursday, November 30.

"I am grateful to meet friends of the Chinese community, Catholics, Christians, Buddhists, all religions are here Confucian they all gave me testimony that Mas Anies as governor has proven him to be fair," said Cak Imin.

He also brought up Anies' track record of building many places of worship while serving as Governor of DKI Jakarta.

"For example, the church that was built a lot during the governor, most other places of worship, the Anies Temple permit (Dharma Bakti) which was issued, then several churches whose permits had not been issued for decades, were issued by Mr. Anies," he added.

Cak Imin also promised that if the AMIN pair was elected, then the government would facilitate cross-iman dialogue and abolish regulations that could lead to discrimination.

"There are so many that the main thing is to provide opportunities for all religions to grow well and then encourage religion as an inspiration and motivation for this nation in what way? The government facilitates dialogues across faiths, secondly removing all rules that allow discrimination, thirdly of course the government's attention to all guards, religious leaders, community leaders to get respect and appreciation from the state," he explained.

During his visit totipina, Cak Imin also released 99 church birds as a tradition of Chinese belief, namely Fang Sheng or 'bad luck'. He explained this while maintaining the ethnic Chinese tradition.
