Socializing Tahura Trumon Conservation, South Aceh Regency Government Susun 20 Years Management Plan

ACEH - The South Aceh Regency Government (Pemkab) is intensifying socialization of the existence of the Trumon Grand Forest Park conservation area (Tahura).

Head of the Environment Agency (DLH) of South Aceh Regency, Teuku Masrizar, said that the existence of Tahura Trumon was the result of the long struggle of all elements of society in the southern west coast of Aceh Province.

"Based on this long struggle, the Governor of Aceh finally gave a mandate to the South Aceh Regency Government to manage Tahura Trumon. Before the Minister of Environment and Forestry determined the taura, which was previously a production forest," he said when contacted, Friday, November 17, was confiscated by Antara.

Tahura Trumon has an area of 1,865 hectares of protected flora and fauna. It is located in Trumon District, South Aceh Regency.

Tahura Trumon is the corridor between Gunung Leuser National Park and the Rawa Singkil Wildlife Sanctuary. The two areas have been a world conservation area because they have key animals including Sumatran tigers, Sumatran elephants, Sumatran rhinos, Sumatran orangutans, and others.

"We continue to socialize the existence of Tahura Trumon in order to get community support and stakeholders, including regional apparatus organizations in South Aceh Regency," said Teuku.

He said that his party will also soon form a team to compile documents for the plan to manage Tahura Trumon for 20 years. Furthermore, the management plan is submitted to the relevant ministries to obtain approval and determination.

Then, some materials from the management plan become materials for qanun or regional regulations. Qanun will become the legal basis for local governments to disburse financing for the management of Tahura Trumon.

"We hope that everything can be completed in the next two years. Our target is that the management of Tahura Trumon can be effective by 2025. This Tahura will later be used as a conservation center and research center for fauna and flora," he said.
