MEDAN - Police arrested the killer of Petra Laia (7), a girl who was found dead in a sack in Bawaziono Village, South Nias, North Sumatra (Sumut).

South Nias Police Chief, Grand Commissioner Adjutant Arke Furman Ambat said the perpetrator named Aluizaro Laia (47) killed the daughter of the village head because her sibling's revenge had lost during the village head election (Pilkades).

"Based on the suspect's statement, (he) killed the victim because the suspect had a personal grudge against the father of the victim. Because the suspect's nephew lost in the 2019 village head election to the victim's father," said the Police Grand Commissioner Adjutant Arke.

According to Arke, the murders occurred on Monday, February 8 afternoon. There was a witness who saw the victim walking towards the back of the suspect's house.

In the evening, the victim's family and community look for the victim because she doesn't return home. The search was carried out until the early hours of Tuesday, February 9.
