Courier 2 Grams Of Shabu Sentenced To Judge Medan District Court 7 Years In Prison

The panel of judges at the Medan District Court (PN), North Sumatra, sentenced the defendant Faisal to seven years in prison in the case of being a courier for two grams of methamphetamine.

"To try and sentence the defendant Faisal to seven years in prison, a fine of Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to six months in prison," said Chief Judge Firza Andriansyah while reading the verdict in Medan as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, September 19.

The panel of judges in the verdict stated that based on the facts of the trial, the defendant violated Article 114 paragraph (1) of the Republic of Indonesia Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics, as the primary indictment.

Namely without rights or against the law offering to sell, sell, buy, accept, become intermediaries in buying and selling, exchanging and handing over narcotics class I in the form of non-shabu-type plants weighing two grams.

"The aggravating thing was that the defendant's actions did not support the government's program in eradicating narcotics, while the mitigating thing was regretting his actions," said Firza.

After reading the verdict, the panel of judges gave seven days to the Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the North Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office, Evi Hariani and the defendant, whether to accept or appeal the decision.

The verdict of the panel of judges is the same as the demands of the prosecutor (conform), because the defendant Faisal was sentenced to seven years in prison, a fine of Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to six months in prison.

In the indictment revealed on June 11, 2023, the defendant Angga (in the investigation) met the defendant on Jalan Perbatan Lubuk Raya, Pulo Brayan Darat I Village, East Medan District, Medan.

Then Angga ordered the defendant to deliver the two grams of methamphetamine with a salary of Rp. 100,000 to be given to someone.

In short, when they were about to deliver the illicit goods to the designated location, police officers from the North Sumatra Police's Narcotics Investigation Directorate who received information that drug trafficking immediately went to the place, and arrested Faisal.
