Optimize Food Security, Iskandar Muda Kodam Working On 3,000 Hectares Of Corn Land In Aceh

MEULABOH - As an effort to optimize national food security, especially in Aceh Province, Iskandar Muda Regional Military Command and its staff will work on 3,000 hectares of land with corn commodities.

The distribution of 3,000 hectares of corn land is spread over three locations including the Korem 012/Teuku Umar area covering an area of 1,000 ha, Korem 011/Lilawangsa covering an area of 1,000 ha and the Kodim 0101 Aceh Besar area covering an area of 1,000 ha. And it is hoped that later in Aceh there will be abundant corn production.

"The food security program in the Aceh region is named Im Jagong, with the target of achieving the socio-economic program. Currently in the process of cultivating land," said the Commander of the Iskandar Muda Regional Military Command Major General TNI Novi Helmy Prasetya, in his statement in Meulaboh, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, May 6.

Previously, he directly inspected the food security area in the Makorem 012 Teuku Umar area in Meulaboh, West Aceh Regency. The review was carried out with Danrem 012 Teuku Umar, Infantry Colonel Riyanto.

TNI Major General Novi Helmy Prasetya said that through the 'I'm Jagong' program, it will later help facilitate access for corn farmers with seeds, fertilizers, and assistance from agricultural experts, especially corn.

He also said that I'm Jagong would also become a buyer of the harvest, so that farmers would get a decent price so that the concept with the system would continue.

Danrem 012 Teuku Umar, Riyanto Infantry Colonel said his party and his staff were ready to support and succeed in the program initiated by the IM Kodam with a planting target of 3,000 hectares.

"This May, Alhamdulillah, the Pangdam Iskandar Muda will start in the West Aceh region, and we from Korem 012/TU have prepared 1000 hectares of land," said Colonel Inf Riyanto.

The planting of corn land in the Korem 012 Teuku Umar area, called the Food Estate, used to be a swamp forest. However, it has become a productive land that can meet people's food needs such as rice, eggs, meat, fish, chicken, onions, chilies and other productive plants.

He hopes that the development of the Food Estate land can reduce inflation rates and reduce the risk of stunting in children.
