Deputy Minister Of Home Affairs Bima Arya: Open Possibility Of Retret For Deputy Regional Heads

Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya answered questions from journalists at the Office of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Jakarta, Sunday (16/2/2025). BETWEEN/Fath Putra Mulya.

JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Home Affairs (Wamendagri) Bima Arya said, it is open to the possibility that deputy regional heads will also receive briefings, as is the retret for elected regional heads.

"Later, maybe, it is very open to the possibility that the deputy will also experience debriefing. Yes, of course with a different plan in the future," said Bima at the Ministry of Home Affairs Office, Jakarta, Antara, Sunday, February 16.

According to Bima, at first the retreat at the Military Academy in Magelang, Central Java was designed for 14 days by involving the elected regional head and deputy head. However, the plan was not implemented due to budget efficiency.

"Because of efficiency, we also want our friends to work faster, the place is compacted for seven days and the place is also limited. So, because in the tent, the tent doesn't fit the capacity if it's a thousand. We have to find it again," he said.

Therefore, continued Bima, the retreat will be focused on the elected regional head, while the deputy regional head will only join at the time of closure.

Meanwhile, the elected governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, hopes that there will be a retreat for the elected deputy regional head in order to maximize strategic partnerships with regional heads so that they can increase regional productivity.

I asked earlier (to the Ministry of Home Affairs), indeed this is only the regional head. The new closure is with waka (regional head representatives). Actually, hopefully, there will be the next stage for waka because in my opinion, strategic partnerships between regional heads and waka are very important for us to be able to spur productivity in each region," said Khofifah at the same location.

According to Khofifah, the briefing provided in the series of retreats is not only important for regional heads, but also for their representatives. Moreover, there is the development of new ministries and agencies as well as for anticipation and mitigation of global dynamics.

On the other hand, Khofifah assessed that the elected governor and deputy governor need to interact with the regent and mayor and their representatives. He believes that this interaction can occur through the retreat which will be held at the Military Academy in Magelang, Central Java.

"In my opinion, it is still important to obtain the briefing, both regional heads and deputy regional heads. Hopefully, this opportunity will also be given to representatives of regional heads, both provincial and district/city," he said.
