Slipping While Playing, Toddler From Banyuasin Drowns In Musi River

PALEMBANG - A toddler from Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra Province was reported to have drowned after being swept away by the swift current of the Musi River. Head of the Palembang Basarnas Hery Marantika in Palembang, said the victim was a toddler with the initials RI (5), a resident of Rantau Bayur District, Banyuasin Korban Regency, was missing while playing water on the banks of the Musi River, Rantau Bayur, Monday, at around 16.00 WIB. "The victim is suspected of being dragged by a tidal river that is still in search," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, April 3. His party has deployed a team of seven personnel from the Palembang Basarnas Office Post. The rescue team was deployed to the location moments after receiving the missing victim's report. The team conducted a search for Musi River supported by complete search and rescue equipment to join the potential SAR from BPBD and TNI/Polri in Palembang.

Equipment to support the search and rescue process includes two rubber boats and engine boats, diving equipment, aqua eye, garmin fish finder, medical equipment, and communication. "Hopefully the weather will be conducive so that the victim is found and the rescue team will return safely," he said.
