Experts Say Bharada E's Opportunity To Return To Service In The Police Is Impossible

JAKARTA - Police observer from the Institute for Security and Strategic Studies (ISESS) Bambang Rukminto said that the chances for Richard Eliezer or Bharada E to return to work at the Polri institution were closed. This is based on Government Regulation Number 1 of 2003 concerning the Dismissal of Police Members.

"The opportunity to return to being a member of the National Police or PNS Polri for a member who has been convicted of a crime is closed," Bambang told VOI, Wednesday, February 15.

Article 11 states that members of the National Police can be dishonorably discharged (PTDH) if they commit a crime, commit a violation, and leave their duties or other matters. It's just that this dismissal must go through an ethics trial.

Based on that article, Bambang believes that the National Police must immediately hold an ethics trial against Bharada E to convict PTDH. The National Police had previously stated that the ethics trial schedule for Bharada E was scheduled to take place after the trial in the Brigadier J case was completed.

"Do we want to build a professional police force or not? If we obey the leadership to do the wrong thing, we are forgiven, it means we are permissive about violations and far from the spirit of building a professional police force," he stressed.

As previously reported, Richard Eliezer, or Bharada E was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison because he was found guilty and involved in a series of premeditated murder cases against Yosua Nopriansyah alias Brigadier J. He was found guilty of violating Article 340 of the Criminal Code juncto Article 55 Paragraph 1 to (1) of the Criminal Code.

"Sentenced a sentence against the defendant with imprisonment for 1 year and 6 months," said Chief Judge Wahyu Iman Santoso during the trial at the South Jakarta District Court, Wednesday, February 15.

This decision was lighter than the prosecutor's demands, namely 12 years in prison.

In this case, the panel of judges has also handed down a verdict on the former Head of Prompam Polri Ferdy Sambo and his wife, Putri Candrawathi; Kuat Ma'ruf; and Ricky Rizal.

Ferdy Sambo was sentenced to death. Meanwhile, Putri Candrawathi was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Then, the panel of judges imposed a prison sentence of 15 years for Kuat Ma'ruf. Meanwhile, Ricky Rizal was sentenced to 13 years in prison.
