Bareskrim Investigates 3 Warehouses For Suppliers Of EG And DEG Drug Raw Materials To PT Afi Farma

JAKARTA - The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police searched three warehouses related to PT Afi Farma in cases of acute kidney failure. Investigators confiscated raw materials for drugs ethylene glycol (EG) and diethylene glycol (DEG) in the warehouse.

"The joint team of the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit has carried out searches in 3 warehouses where PT AF's raw materials are stored, namely PT WWRC, PT TBK, and PT DA," said the Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Public Relations Division Kombes Nurul Azizah, Friday, November 4.

From the series of searches, it is known that the three companies are suppliers of raw materials for EG and DEG to PT Afi Farma. EG and DEG are chemicals suspected of triggering acute kidney failure.

However, it was not explained how much of the EG and DEG raw materials were confiscated. So far, it has only been conveyed that the deepening process continues.

"From the search process at the 3 PT AF suppliers, the team took and confiscated raw materials for drugs of the type EG and DEG," said Nurul.

Previously, it was reported that the Directorate of Certain Crimes (Dittipiter) of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police immediately visited PT Afi Farma in Kediri. This step was taken after the investigation of cases of acute kidney failure was upgraded to investigation status.

Initially, PT Afi Farma was one of the companies suspected of producing paracetamol containing ethylene glycol (EG) and diethylene glycol (DEG) in the product.

"Yes, he went straight to Kediri, yesterday after finishing the case, he immediately went there," said the Director of the Criminal Investigation Division of the National Police, Brigadier General Pipit Rismanto, to reporters, Wednesday, November 2.

Investigators want to know the raw materials for making drugs at PT Afi Farma. So, it will be one of the guides in the investigation process.

"Material evidence is to find out what the pre-production process is like. Then during the production process what is it like. That's what we always have to want to know. Then who will be responsible if there is this error," said Pipit.
